TRAINING AT TRENTHAM.

SEARCHING MEDICAL TEST,

The Samoa Military Polico who liavo horn in training at Trentham for tho past week aro making satisfactory progress in their work. Them are 246 in camp, made tip as follows: —Fivo officers, 13 non-com-missioned officers and 228 rank and filo. During the week the greater portion of the time lias baen devoted to physical training. Of the 223 recruits 40 have not received any military training previously. A high standard of physical fitness is demanded for the service, in Samoa and a large number of recruits who offered themselves did not pass the medical examination. As an indication of the standard aimed at figures relative to men recruited in Wellington aro interesting. Of 146 recruits sent, to Trontham by the civil police to whom the recruits first applied only 80 wero accepted by the military authorities and of these 80 who underwent the final medical examination 14 wero declared medically unfit for service.

Thirteen instructors of the New Zealand Permanent Staff will bo included in the police party.
