WORK ON FARMS.
POSITIONS FOR BOYS.
CITY LADS NOT ATTRACTED
(■" Tho disinclination of young people to seek farm positions is a singular thing in a country which is now, and is destined for many years to remain, a primary producing country," states tho annual report of the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. Machinery was set up during the winter to facilitate tho placing of city lads in farm employment, and tho chamber had been instrumental in placing some 50 lads.
Although unemployment had remained acute, there had not been sufficient lads coming forward seeking farming posts' to fill tho vacancies of which tho chamber had particulars on its books, so tho schomo virtually broke down at tho beginning of the milking season. There wero still it number of farmers on the books of tho chamber and boys would bo sent to them as they come forward.
