NOISES IN SYDNEY.

DESIRE FOR ABATEMENT. SYDNEY. Feb. 21. A deputation from the New Health Society waited upon the .Minister of Health, Dr. R. Arthur, seeking Government aid toward the abatement, of noises. The chief complaint was against trams, motor-cycles, motor horns, roosters, barking dogs and rock drills. These were described as hideous and as seriously affecting public health and causing loss of efficiency.

The Minister said he sympathised with the deputation. He promised to make representations to the Cabinet.

Dr. Arthur ventured the opinion that jazz and the talkies, which he duh'bod " squawkies," were even worse than anything tho deputation had mentioned*
