TAKAPUNA GRAMMAR SCHOOL
ANNUAL GATHERING HELD
The third annual swimming sport 3 of the Takapuna Grammar School were held at tho Tepid Baths yesterday afternoon. This is the first occasion on which the Tepid Baths have been used by the school for its sports, the Calliope Dock at Devonport having previously been the venue. The boys' races were decided first and occupied the earlier part of the afternoon fioin one o'clock. The programme, which was uf 21 events, attracted a number of parents, friends and old boys. Tho house relay proved a keenly contested event and caused great enthusiasm. The Junior Cup was won by N. Cramp with 13 points. Bennett with nine points being second and O'Meara with four third. T!iO events which counted for this award were the 53 l-oyds., 66 2-ovris., and 100 yds. handicaps. Crump, who represented Auckland at the New Zealand championships in the junior divisions, was able to win the event without much difficultv.
The W. R. Wilson Cup, for the senior champion, was very closely contested between B. L. Gurr ami C. J. Sidford, the former gaining the major points by winning the 100 yds. handicap by a touch. The events which counted for the cup wore the 6b 2-3 yds., 100 yds.. and 320 yds. handicaps. The points scored were as follows:—R. L. Gurr, 13: C. J. Sidford, 11; A. Cornwell. 1.
