SUNDAY, January 5: Very wot, so I ent inside ancl buried myself in " Boys and Girls" puce. Then went to milk cows. Came in and did some fancywork till bedtime.

MONDAY, January 6: Lovely day. Took baby for rido iu prum. Planned my diary. Made up Homo verses of poetry. Fed animals. Had hearty meal, then went and sat in dining room. Afterwards retiring to bed. End of a glorious day. TUESDAY, January 7: Arose early, and, after breakfasting and doing housework, 1 went for a lovely car ride. Lunched at a nico lady's house: went on again, hud afternoon tea at another house, did some shopping in town, then returned home. WEDNESDAY, January 8: Prepared for n picnic. Started nine o'clock, walked one mile up the river till we camo to some bush, went into it till wo arrived in a lovely glade, tfad great fun. Near lunch-time; discovered had left tea at home. Decided to drink our lemonade, which ws had brought for nfternoon tea. After lunch wo made lawyer swing to swing on. I was having a great swing when bang! went I into a punga. Hurt my back. Nevertheless wo had a beautiful day. THURSDAY, January 9: Had good sport picking gooseberries, and seeing who could pick most. Wo ato a great many too. But it was a draw as to who picked most, for we all had full baskets. At night we sat and listened to gramophone. FRIDAY, January 10: Went exploring in caves. 1 was met by a nest of cave wetus. Dreadfully frightened. We gathered number of stalactites. Brought some wonderful ferns home. Arrived home in time for tea All tired.

SATURDAY, January 11: Wet. Sat down and wrote to Miss Morton. Had treat game chasing baby. Did some darnimr. Made some lovely clothes for friend's doll. Afterwards 1 set table for tea. After tea I sut for some time by a glorious fire, reading "Great Expectations."
