HOLIDAY DIARIES.

FUN IN THE BUSH. By BATHIA LUTTRELL, Maroera, Wairnana (ago 13 years). JANUARY 7, 1930: Ettio and Shirley.came to see me to-day. Wo went into the bush: then played at house, and after that wo had a swinj. Then to end the fun wo had a sing-song concert. JANUARY 12: I went up to the big bush to-day for a ride. Once whilo looking into the creek I went splash into tho water, and, of course, I cried out, but 1 was not wet much. Stuart and I could not find our cricket ball, so wo played with turnip bulbs; it was fun. JANUARY 13: Anne Leith and I went to see dad making a fence, and wo lost our way in the fern. I went intp the bush and was held up a tree for a long time, because I was afraid to iump down. I was searching for a tui to-day, but it deceived me so. I kept walking after it until I was too tired to go further. JANUARY 15: Mother let me keep house to-day. I baked a spongo cake, and one side rose higher than tho other, but it tasted alright. My tooth ached this evening, and we had a terrible thunder storm. JANUARY 18: To-day I spent mostly in gardening, and then we went to the pictures on horseback. It was a lovoly ride, and I saw the moon riac. JANUARY 20: My sister, Anne Leith, Stuart, and I went for a walk up to a slip on tho outskirts of n bush. While there it rained, so we built a houso of punga leaves, and un the way homo we sang Bongs. JANUARY 22: After all things were done, Stuart and I went eel-fishing. There was a big eel in the creek, but although wo had plenty of bait wo could uot catch it. Then I made a plate of lofleo. JANUARY 23: To-day I spring-cleaned my room, and found all tho things I had lost during odd times. Wo went tiahing for tho eel again. We took' torches too, but still have not caught it. ,
