WESTERN SPRINGS TO-NIGHT.

WOMAN RIDER APPEARING.

Tho -woman cinder-track rider. Miss Fay Taylour, will mako her final appearanco at the Western Springs Speedway this evening, before leaving for Southern centres on Monday. The record crowd at the speedway orv Wednesday gavo Miss Taylour a most enthusiastic welcome, and her victory over W. Herbert was a most popular one. Patrons will have an opportunity this ovening of seeing Miss Taylour matched aaginst the best riders at present in Auckland, when she will take part in tho "Big Nine" championship, in company with C. Spinks, A. Mnnn, A. Mattson, W. Herbert, W. Allan, B. Bray, A. Way and F. Day, all of whom havo some extremely good times to their credit. Tho race will bo run in several heats, each from a rolling start, and provided that Miss Taylour is placed in her particular heat there should be some interesting contests in tho semi-finals. Tho woman rider will also make an attempt to break the one-lap or quarter-mile record for tho track of 20 4-55., at present held by Frank Pearce, tho world's champion. One of the most keenly contested events of tho evening should be the handicap race for the Chevrolet Cup, which has been presented for competition among local riders by Schofield and Co., Limited, of Newmarket. All the local riders available have entered for Iho race, and competition should bo keen. In spito of his heavy fall after his machine had collided with S. Casey's mount on Wednesday, A. Mattson was not injured, and tin; slight damage caused to his motor has been repaired. S. Casey is still in hospital, while J. Garmson, who injured his right hand when lie collided with tho fence in avoiding running down two fallen riders on Wednesday, will not be able to compete. It is possible that C. Goodwin, who was injured earlier in tho season, will take part in this evening's racing, although ho has not been able to practise sinco his fall. v The track has been thoroughly rolled since Wednesday's meeting, and should be in lino order for fast, work this evening.

BLANDFORD PARK FIXTURE

PROGRAMME FOR MONDAY

What promises to bo a very successful cinder-track meeting has been arranged for Monday evening at Blandford Park. As a large number of well-known riders, including C- Goldberg, C. Walker, I>. Coult thard, A. Lemon, L. Courtis and 11. Stev enson, will compete, the events should not lack excitement. A loud speaker has been installed and a musical programino will be presented.
