MOTOR RECORD ATTEMPT.
WOMAN'S ENDURANCE TEST.;
An attempt to establish a 24 hour#' motor record for "baby" cars was com; mencod by Miss B. Oliver afc Henning s Speedway, Mange re, yesterday afternoon. Driving a Morris Minor car, Miss Oliver commenced tho long run at five o clocks The track was heavy owing to tho rain. At midnight Miss Oliver had covered 256 laps, or a total of 320 miles, equal to travelling to Wanganui. Her averago speed was 46 miles an hour, and her average number of laps an hour 36. Th» fastest time for ond lap was 2m. 365. There is at present no official record for a 24-hours' run for "baby" cars, except in cases where moro than one driver has been employed. Three English drivers, C. Chase, B. Bland and 11. Parker, hold the 24 hours' record in tho 750 c.c. class, having covered 1564 miles at an average speed of 65.59 miles an hour in a "Baby Austin, at tho famous Montehery. track in France. Tho only woman driver who holds a 24 hours' world's record at present is the Hon. Mrs. Victor Bruce, who drove a Bentlev at Montehery last year, and averaged 89.57 kilometres an hour.
