GENEVA CONFERENCE.
THE LABOUR DELEGATE. The claim of tho Alliance of Labour to bo a national organisation was considered by the Auckland Trades and Labour Council at its raeotintj on Thursday evening. A circular was received from the alliance in regard to the selection of the Labour delegate to the Geneva Conforonco, in which it was stated that, as Mr. J. Roberts was the nominee of tho alliance, such nomination disqualified all other trade unions from taking part. The claim of the alliance was regarded by the council as only partly true, since the alliance did not represent 20 percent. of tho 420 trade unions in the country. It was stated that a further claim, contained in tho circular, that Mi". Roberts was chosen as leader by Labour delegates at tho economic conference was not in accordance with fact. Mr. Roberts had beon appointed chairman. A resolution was passed recommending to tho Minister of Labour that tho method of election provided in the Arbitration Act for the appointment of the workers' representative should apply to tho present election.
