A MEMORIAL TABLET.

'A memorial tablet to the T?ev. W. E. Gillam, who was for 20 years in charge of St. Matthew's parish, will bo unveiled in St." Matthew's Church by Archbishop Avcrill on Sunday. Tho memorial comprises a brass tablet let into one of the pillars ovejr the placo where Mr. Gillam's ashes wore deposited. Mr. Gillam, whoso death occurred at the ago of 73 on July 23 last year, was well known in a number of Anglican parishes in various parts of New Zealand. Ifo camo to Now Zealand at the ago of 24 and was ordained two years later by Bishop Harper in Christchurch Cathedral. After a period on the West Coast ho served in Canterbury. Ilis first charge in Auckland was at Epsom, and in 1900 ho was appointed vicar of St. Matthew's, holding this _ charge for 20 years, during which period tho present church was built. Mr. Gillam served at tho war as_ a chaplain on Gallipoli and on _ hospital ships, attaining trio rank of LieutenantColonel. ITo was also chaplain to the Auckland Fire Brigade and a member of a Masonio order. For several years he was secretary of the Papatootoo Qiphans Home.
