The Victoria Amateur Turf Club's meeting opened at Caulfield yesterday in .fine weather.

The St. George Stakes resulted in an easy victory for the New South Wales gelding Amounis. Pliar Lap finished third. This was Phar Lap's first race since he contested the Melbourne Cup at Flemington in November. <
