THROWING THE HAMMER
NEW ZEALANDER'S* RECORD,
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, Sunday.
At the Tokomairiro sports meeting yesterday J. G. Leekie, present holder of the Otago record in throwing the hammer, beat his previous record by 3ft. He threw the hammer 151 ft Gin. This constitutes the greatest throw registered by a New Zoalander, although it does not equal the New Zealand record of 109 ft, which is held by an American named Merchant.
