AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE.
UNIFORMS FOR MILITIA. COST TO GOVERNMENT. ADELAIDE, Feb. 4. Delay in granting approval of the new militia uniforms is causing comment. It is stated that the Minister of Defence, Mr. A. E. Green, is in a quandary. The issue of new uniforms will mean scrapping the others, which cost £248,000, and if tho Government's objective of 35,000 enlistments is reached the cost of cloth* ing tho men will be £210,000. Thus tho saving of £150,000 on camps this year will bo offset by the cost of the new uniforms and 1 tho scrapping of the old, totalling £458,000.
