CRASH IN GLIDER.
MISHAP TO LINDBERGH,
AIRMAN NOT INJURED.
NEW YORK, Feb. 3
Colonel Charles Lindbergh escaped injury when a glider he was testing crashed in the mountains in the neighbourhood of Sandberg, California. Onlookers immediately despatched runners to the assistance of the airman. They reported that the glider had been towed by an aeroplane from the side of the hill and released in the faco of a high wind. An aileron was then seen to fall and the accident followed.
Seeing the aileron drop from the glider, Lindbergh attempted to bank, but instead of landing in a A upright position his machine rammed the hillside from which ho had taken off.
