MOTOR-CAR BURGLARS.

ESCAPE AFTER A CRIME. STOLEN VEHICLE WRECKED. POLICEMAN NEARLY RUN DOWN. By Telegraph—Presß Association—Copyright. (Received February 4, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 4. A burglary at Kurrajong, 46 miles north-west of Sydney, had a sensational sequel. Early this morning a strange motorcar was seen outside Woodhill's store in a lonely part of the town. 'A policeman arrived on the sceno, but tho driver of the car, instead of oboying his call to stop, bore down on the constable with the evident intention of running over him.

The policeman had to jump to avoid being knocked down by the car as it sped past him. The stranger drove away at a breakneck speed and disappeared. Eventually he crashed through a fence near Richmond.

In an attempt to hide their tracks the driver and his companions pushed the derelict car down a side lane. They left in the vehicle a quantity of tobacco which is believed to have been stolen from the store.

The policeman sought aid from the Richmond aerodrome. Two aeroplanes were flown over the locality at a low altitude, but tho pilots saw no sign of tho fugitives. This is the fifth robbery committed at Woodhill's store in two years. Tho car used had been stolen from a resident of Mosman.
