MOUNT ROSKILL BOARD.
WESTERN DRAINAGE PLANS,
Tho Mount Roskill Road Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. E. F. Jones, presiding. Mr. John Dawson, engineer, suggested that signboards should bo erected on every road in (ho district, denoting its classification. Ignorance as an excuse could not then bo advanced by (ho drivers of heavy vehicles using third and fourthclass roads. Tho plans of tho western drainage scheme were practically completed, and ho was now working out quantities and making up estimates of cost. Mr. ,!. U. Robertson wrote suggesting that the name of Arkell Road should bo altered to Dominion Road. Mr. G. K Tmisley objected, as tho road had been known for vears as Arkell Load. Mr S. 1 Goodall said that tho'alterat ion would causo complications as the main pait of Hie thoroughfare was known as Dominion Road and tho further part as Dominion Koad extension, and tho proposal would make tho next part Dominion Road again. On his motion consideration was dofcr rod- , , .„ . Tho Department ol internal Affairs forwarded a copy of (bo report of the commission on tho secession of Roskill South, which was referred to the Finance Committee. Mr. Tansley said his only objection was that tho board had to pay half tho cost of the commission. Since last report 17 building permits have been issued, including seven for dwellings. A novelty in the report was that a permit had been issued for the erection of rabbit-pens to tbo value of £SO. Tho treasurer, Mr. J. Warren, reported that of the total general rale amounting (o £12.387. (here had been collected £7-117, leaving £<lo7o outstanding. Tbo general account was now £B7B at debit.
