MOUNT ROSKILL SERVICES.

FEEDER-BUS SUGGESTED. PREPARING ROAD FOR TRAMS. Tho matter of improved transport in the district came in for considerable discussion at a meeting of tho Mount*-Eos-kill Road Board last evening. A suggestion that the Auckland Transport Board should be asked to inaugurate a bus service from tho corner of Dominion Road and Mount Albert to Waikowhai Park, via Arkill Road, was received from Mr. J, It. Robertson. Tho proposal was supported, and so was a proposal from Mr. G. E. Tansloy that the board should bo asked to provido a light feeder bus service from the Royal Oak to Mount Albert along tho whole length of Mount Albert Road. It was stated that now that the tramways wero extended •to this road from Dominion Road a feeder service running both ways would pick up a great deal of traffic. Tho Auckland Automobile Association drew attention to the bad state of Three Kings Road from the Mount Eden tram terminus to Mount Albert and invited the board to disclose its intentions regarding putting it in good order permanently. The works committee recommended "that the permanent, paving of the road should bo considered, and that the board's engineer should be instructed to prepare the permanent levels and an estimate of the cost of paving. Mr. E. A. Pearce, chairman of Hie committee, urged tho advisability of the work being taken in hand at once so that everything would be in readiness to carry it out at tho saino time as tho tramway was being extended. Ho thought that that was tho only way they could be sure of getting the Mount Eden tramway constructed tho whole distance to Mount Albert Road. This point of view was hlronglv urged by Messrs. T. Sanff. G. E Taiisley, S, Scarborough and J. Donald. Mr.'Tansloy suggested (hat an early poll of the ratepayers should bo taken, for it would be unreasonable lo expect the Transport Board lo extend the Mount Eden tramwavs as at present intended if Mount Roskiil was not ready with jlh part of (lie work. Tho proposal whs adopted. A vwuhh* lion submitted by Mr. Tanaloy thunltMjtf the Transport Board for so expeditloiiHly carrying out tho Dominion Road extension'to Mount Albert Road wrni also earried. „ _ . The board's engineer, Mr. John Pawson, subsequently reported (lint a retiresenta livo of the Transport Board hurl called upon him regarding permaneu', levels for Three Kings Road so that the tramway extension could bo made.
