VICTORIAN BUSH FIRES.
DANGEROUS SITUATION. RAILWAY STOCK BURNED. MELBOURNE. Feb. 4. A forest fire in the Snowy River district, near bourne, lias assumed alarming proportions. It crossed the river and destroyed stocks of railway sleepers and cutters' plant, and also a large area of grass. Serious bush fires threaten the grass in Mount Wellington district. A fanner named Hay ward went out to fight the bush blaze in the Black Ranges,. near Stawell. When he returned he found his six-roomed house burned. efiie is believed to have been due to iens wax that was left melting on a stove do - ing over. • * ■ ■ . ■
