DESTRUCTIVE WHIRLWIND.
DAMAGE DONE ON FARM. SURPRISE FOR THE OWNER. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] OPOTIKI, Mondny. A remarkable whirlwind struck a farm owned by Mr. A. Martin, at Woodlands, Opotiki. Coming without warning, the whirlwind snapped off the punga ferns and wattle trees in the front garden and carried one end of the cowshed to the back door of the house, a distance of 100 yards. The disturbance was quite local, and Mr. Martin, who was working on a neighbour's farm, knew nothing of what had happened until he arrived home.
