CARNIVAL AT MILFORD.
A VARIED PROGRAMME. A combined gala will be held ou Milford Beach to-morrow, starting at 2 o'clock. A big programme has been drawn up which includes life-saving competitions! running and other ovents. Thes© will bo conducted by tho Milford Info-Saving Club, while unuatic events will bo decided with th' help of tho North Shore Amateur Swimming ciub.... ' ~ ;y,; v ." The beach programme .is as follows: — Men's tug-o'-war, three-legged race, ch.T>-< race, tlu'Ciul tho needle race, running reJoy, race, 'soyds. ladies' running 1 race, treasure hunt for children, under 9 years, original design sand castle building competition for 1 children under 9. The following swimming events will bo decided i—so Yds, 9 to 12 years; 75yds, 12 to 15 years,' boys' i championship of Milford; 40yd«, 3 to. 12 years; 75yds, to 16 years, girls' championship of Milford: 40yds, 0 l 12 years; 75yds, 12 to 15 years, Milford 1j0;,'.» and girls' handicaps; 50yds, open handicap; corfu dive; 50yds, ludies' - open handicap: 50yds, op'on handicap; 200 yds, 'challenge rolay (4-men in-» team). A burlesque . demonstration will bo , given by ( t : Milford Life-Saving Club.
Four silver cups have' been presented lr. the Herbert Smith trust fund,, and • the?/ have been allottod to tho four Milford boy? mid girls' swimming championships.
