DROWNED IN RIVER.
LINESMAN SWEPT AWAY,

OAMARTT,' Friday.
A drowning accident' occurred in the Waitaki River this morning, the victim being a Government electric linesman, Mr. K. D. Richardson, aged' 35, of St. Alban's, Christchurcb. While testing a line across the river near Glenavy he attempted'to wade the stream to the centre tower and was carried away by the strong current.
The alarm was given promptly by Mr. Richardson's companions and Constable Berry and Mr. F. Dennison immediately proceeded down the river, but no signs of the unfortunate man were seen. So far the body has not been recovered. Mr. Richardson was married, but had no family.
