NEXT BRITISH BUDGET.
WAR OFFICE ECONOMIES. HIGHER INCOME TAX HINTED. (Received January 16, 9.5 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 16. The Government has drastically revised the War Office estimates. It expects to save £1,500,000, and will devote the money to social services, according to the Daily Herald. It is hinted elsewhere that the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Snowden, will impose a supfir-tax on incomes of £IOOO and upwards, and will increase the death duties.
