BATAVIA, Dec. 2G. A bust of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, British Administrator, and founder of Singapore, who died in 1826, was presented to the Royal Batavian Society for Arts and Scienco bv the Malayan branch of tho Royal Asiatic Society of Singapore.
'Sir Thomas is' regarded as the resurrector of the' first-named society. The British Consul-General, Sir Josiah Crosby, thanked the society for the invitation to the British community. He pointed out that in these days the Dutch can appreciate Sir Thomas Raffles, who tried to do them out of their colonies,' as well. as ihe British can appreciate tho

Coen, who chased the English from Java. 1 He rejoiced that so many of Sir Thomas' ideas were now accepted and the remembrance of Sir Thomas had received so yvarm a welcome from the Dutch.
