FLOWER SHOWS.
SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITIONS.
The various exhibitions under the auspices of the Auckland Horticultural Society in 1929 were more interesting and comprehensive than any of the previous years. The autumn was notable for the marvollous blooms of decorative dahlias in the latest and best novelties, while the feature of the spring or daffodil show was the exhibits by the National Daffodil Society and the presence of Mr. Guy Wilson, a leading British grower and expert, who also acted as judge. The best display and largest collection of our native flora ever staged was the leading feature for which the Loder Cup was awarded. The sweet pea and glndioli show, the last of the year, provided a floral treat, the gladioli being the leading feature. The different clubs have given a great stimulus to the growing of special kinds of flowers and assistance with practical cultural directions.
