WESTERN SPRINGS RACES.
PROGRAMME FOR TO-NIGHT.
The team of overseas visiting cindertrack champions at present iri Auckland visited the Western Springs Speedway yesterday and were delighted with the lay-out and track surface.. Each of the four riders is a record-holder or champion in his own State and each is confident of lowering the present track record.
Tan Praag covered a-quarter-mile circuit in Wellington, similar to Western Springs, in 20 l-ss. last vreek and H. Mangham has also been making very fast times. Sticpewich and Lawrence have appeared locally previously, but as Lawrence's motor has not been functioning properly, to-night, will be his first appearance at his best. He will ride the latest production in dirttrack machines. Kilminster, the Wellington champion, has been equalling the feats of the overseas riders and to-night will be his only appearance this season on the Auckland cinders. He is present in answer to a special challenge from Herbert.- and Mattson, of Auckland.
11. Mangham stated yesterday that it would riot be possible at the present time to assemble a finer team of riders for anv meeting in the Dominion and he believes that to-nght's racer, will live long in the memory of Auckland patrons. Community singing and novelty items will enliven t fie sport. In order to accommodate the huge attendance which is expected the pates will be opened earlier than usual.
