OBITUARY.

MR. J. SAXON MILLS.

LONDON. Nov. 27. The death has occurred of Mr. Saxon Mills, journalist and author.

Mr. J. Saxon Mills was born at Ash-ton-under-Lyne, and educated at Manchester Grammar School and graduated at Cambridge and Manchester Universities. Ho was called to the Bar and after practising on tho Northern Circuit joined tho staff of the Daily News. Ho was for a, time editor of the Capo Times. He contributed much to daily and other newspapers. He wrote " Agriculture and the State," " The Panama Canal," " The Life of Sir Edward Cook," " David Lloyd George, War Minister," and other books.

MR. A. R. MINTER. (Received Novembor 28. 10.55 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 2S. The death has occurred of Mr. A. R. Minter, one of tho oldest solicitors in Sydney, aged 75. DR. A. J. SAW. (Received November 28. 10.55 p.m.) PERTH, Nov. 28. Tho death has occurred of Dr. A. J. Saw, Chancellor of Perth University for the past eight years. Dr. Athelstan John Henton Saw was born in Perth in 1868 He studied at Perth High School, Trinity College, Cambridge, and St. Mary's Hospit.il, London. Ho was for many years surgeon at Perth Hospital. ' Ho served as a surgeon in tho war, and was mado a lieutonant-coloinel. He was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Council.
