DEATH OF A WIFE.

HUSBAND IN NEW ZEALAND.

WANTED AT THE INQUEST.

(Received November 28. 11.45 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Nov. 28. Melbourne police officials state that it has been decided to demand the attendance of Mr. W. H. Biggs at the inquiry into his wife's death. Should he fail to return by the next steamer it is the intention of the police to serve a subpoena on him.

Beyond what is published in the newspapers hers- the police have received no information from the New Zealand police concerning their interrogation of Mr. Biggs on board the Ulimaroa, with the result that the Melbourne detectives are unable to pursue a definite line of inquiry. They believe that Mr. Biggs has a. sister in New Zealand.

A cablegram was received from Melbourne on Monday evening stating that a woman's body, believed to bo that of Mrs. Biggs, whose husband was on the way to New Zealand, had been found in 'the sea at St. Kilda. On the arrival of the steamer Ulimaroa from Sydney the following day Mr. W. H. A. Biggs was informed of his wife's death, and expresesd amazement, stating that he and Ins wife had been going to leave Melbourne for Sydney last Tuesday to catch the boat for Auckland, where they intended to settle. His wife had gone out on Monday and he had not seen her since. When she did not return he had left a note and caught the afternoon train for Sydney. Even when the Ulimaroa sailed for Auckland ho had not been worried and thought that she would follow by the next boat. Mr. Biggs intends to return to Australia by the Ulimaroa to-day, and a berth has been booked and other arrangements made.
