OPOTIKI, Thursday

A severe thunder and lightning storm was experienced at Opctiki last night. It was accompanied by heavy rain. The lightning was particularly vivid and interfered with the electric light system, which failed on several occasions for a few minutes.

During the storm a valuable draught foal, owned by Mr. H. R. Hogg, of Waioeka Road, was struck by lightning and killed. Mr. Hogg valued 'the foal at over £2O.
