FISHING FOR TROUT.
GOOD SPORT OBTAINED.
ROTORUA LAKE DISTRICT.
[BT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
TE PUKE, Sunday
Anglers are making the most of a good trout-fishing season in the Rotorua lake district and many good catches have been recorded. A Te Puke resident, Mr. E. H. Wilkins, successfully played and landed a 121b. rainbow trout in Lake Rotoehu.
One party of three fishermen, over two days, secured 36 fish, of an average of 4£lb. Other parties on Lake Rotoiti have secured good baskets. Prospects are exceedingly bright, especially in the upper reaches of rivers flowing from Lakes Rotoehu and Rotoiti. The fish are in good condition, the average of the more recent catches showing a decidedly better condition than earlier in the season.
