CHINESE CIVIL WAR.
ADVANCE OF KUOMINCHUN. NATIONALISTS HARD PRESSED. (Received November 2'2, 10.35 p.m.) SHANGHAI, Nov. 21. Thousands of refugees are pouring into Hankow from tlio civil war regions, bringing the war feeling nearer to the population. The President, Marshal Chiang Kai-shek, is massing 100,000 troops on tho border of tho Hunan province with the object of checking the advance of the Kuominchun army on Hankow. It is now definite that unless Chiang halts tho Kuominchun forces immediately Wuhan will fall. That will force the Government's army to retreat to Nanking. The Nationalist forces further south havo had to abandon Wuchow as a result of an onslaught by Feng Yu-hsiang's army. Bewildering changes in tho general waxsituation are revealed in the latest despatches. The success of tho rebels at Wuchow has been offset by the Government troops' capture of Loyang, in the Honan Province. The Kuominchun Army evacuated it in orderly fashion and passed into the Hupeh Province. The Kuominchun forces now are steadily advancing on Siang-yang. The general effect appears to bo that each army will attack the other in the rear. Tho advance of the Kuominchun southwards is already alarming Hankow.
