COMEDIAN'S FIRST PART.
Known to-day as a most versatile screen actor, Wallace Beery was born on a farm in Western Missouri. He and his brother Noah were educated in a neighbouring city, and when Noah went on the stage, Wallace joined a circus and became an animal trainer, specialising in elephants. The discovery that he had a good baritone voice prompted him to give up the circus for the'' stage, and he worked for some time in stock companies with his brother. Then followed a successful career before the footlights ending in his engagement for musical comedy parts on Broadway. Wallace Beery started work in pictures ▼ hen they were in a very early stage of development, and appeared in comedy parts as a Swedish housemaid. For some time Berny continued to play in comedy parts. His first dramatic performance was in Marshall Neilan's " The Unpardonable Sin." Since them ho has appeared in many Paramount productions.
