WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
BWANSON. The monthly meeting of (lie Swanson Women's Institute was held in the local hall on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. G. Taylor was in the .chair. After the business of the meeting was concluded Mrs. Dorman, president of the Auckland Provincial Federation of Women's Institutes, gave a demonstration on cane working, which was greatly appreciated. The articles made from cane, which were shown, were baskets and (rays. Mrs. J. Taylor and Mrs. Stralian were the hostesses for the afternoon. The singing of the National .Anthem concluded a very pleasant afternoon.
WAIOTAIiI. At the monthly meeting of the Waiotahi Women's Institute Mrs. Toonc presided. The roll call, "Cake or sandwich fillings or icings," resulted in a .largo number of good recipes being given. One of the items of the programme was a display of family treasures, a very varied assortment being shown, including a charming hand-painted fan ISO years old, also grim relics of the Boer War, in the shape of rock-flattened bullets. A word-making competition \Vas won by Mrs. E. Fryer, and afternoon tea was dispensed by the three hostesses of the day.
