GOLF.
TE AWAMUTU CLUB. There was a large attendance of mem■hers and friends at the Momona learooms, To Awamutu, when the Golf Uub held a social evening. A feature of tho occasion was the presentation of tho cups and trophies won during tho season, in the unavoidable absence of the president (Mr. D. T. B. McArlhur), Mr. A. J. Shepherd, one of the vice-presidents, presented the trophies. Bridge and cuchro were plaved, about 20 tables being occupied, and a delectable supper served by tho ladies terminated a very successful evening. Opportunity was taken, in view of tho approaching marriage, to present the -ladies' captain. Miss Quin, and secretary, Mr. Knowles Smith, with a handsome sil- , vor entree dish, suitably engraved, Mr. j Shepherd making an appropriate speech. / Mr. Smith acknowledged the gift and i the 6cntimeuts expressed.
