CUT RATES.
Sir,—Our worthy Mr. Harold Schmidt, is now lashing himself into a stale of righteous indignation on the cut-rato question. With his usual burning eloquence ho advocates the black-listing of cut-rato shops. Observant citizens may have noticed a time, not so long ago, when this same Mr. Schmidt temporarily; transformed his chemist shop into a fruit stall, at cut rates. Placards urged the public-to buy Farmer X.'s apples, direct fiom producer to consumer, and save the middleman's profit. Is this a cut rate? Mr. Schmidt's fighting blood has doubtless been aroused to boiling point by cheap lines in soap, perfumes, etc. -•If he can explain this little fruit question we shall be able to listen with tion to his discourses on the cut rate. Agitated.
