WOMEN'S DISPUTE OVER BODY
STRANGE SCENES IN MEXICO. MEXICO CITY. Nor. A strange occurrence followed the recent death of Senor Alessandro de la Pena, a rich man who had inherited a famous name and immense property. He was pronounced dead by two physicians, and there followed a wake.
Then Anna Rosales appeared on the scene, and insisted on ' taking possession of the body, saying she was the dead man's wife. Senora cle la Pena, the second wife, disputed possession, and the women came to blows. «'
People crowded in from the street as the women shrieked and fought over the coffin. When the disturbance was at its height de la Pena rose suddenly .in his coffin, asking what all tlio' noise was about; The mourning guests fled in terror. The story of the resurrection spread rapidly, and the street was quickly jammed for several blocks by curious people, who demanded that the "dead" man be brought out where all could see him.
The intervention of the police and firemen was necessary to clear the streets. "You see, two jealous women can wake the dead," isaid de la Pena, when he was asked what had brought him out of his death-like sleep.
