The courso proper with trestles 40ft. out from the rails was ill general use, and as a result of tho light but welcomo rain overnight provided splendid going. Practically all the horses engaged at tho forthcoming meeting, including Iho week-end arrivals, wero galloped, and tlioir efforts wero. closely followed. Tho Welcomo Stakes candidate Spoon reeled of! lialf-a-milo in 49 3-ss, and her stable mato Tho Geisha followed over the sumo ground in 50 2-ss. ■ Dutch Money galloped five furlongs, in 1.2 3-6. Caterpillar, joined by Miss Bradbury at four furlongs, took 1.2 for tho same distance, and could havo improved on this time. Disorder finished half a length in front of Semper Paratus after covering a mile and a-quartor in 2.15, tho last mile occupying 1.46 3-5. Honour and Greenaway cantered a circuit and sprinted home three furlongs in the straight, Honour finishing strongly in front. Miss Nightraid strode over half a milo in 50 3-ss. Stately again impressed by galloping seven furlongs in 1.27 2-5, Starshooter taking 1.81 2-5 for the same journey. Quarterdeck was in front of Swoopalong at the end of a mile in 1.45. Silver Coot and Paper Boy wont easily over five furlongs in I.G 2-5. Cashier's Useful Effort. Hurly Burly showod improving form by galloping seven furlongs in 1.30 1-5. Jaloux finished ahead of Pride after traveling nine furlongs in 1.59. Cashier was responsible for a useful effort ovar a mile in 1.42 3-5, the last seven furlongs in 1.30. Ho is again doing well, and although withdrawn from the Cup will race in other events at tho meeting, Childe strolled over a milo in 3.43, the last seven furlongs in 1.29. Hoylake was allowed his. head from the start, and galioped away from his companions in the straight, finishing well clear of Kentish Lady, with Malmsey beaten off. • This was tho' most impressive gallop registered by Hoylake for some weeks, his time for the full distance being 1.57, the last h?lf taking 535. King Musket wa3 restricted to a short sprint along the straight, and Meprisant did throe-quarter paco on the plough. Havering finished much better than Subdivision over five furlongs in 1.4, without being ridden out.

Admiral Drake, carrying over Bst., impressed by comfortably beating Merry Mint and King's Jest in a inile task in 1.45 3-5. • Pnganelli (C. Enstwood) registered tlie best gallop of tho morning over .five furlongn, cutting out tho distance in 1.1 0-5, and finishing full of running.

Proud Knight's Prospects. Proud Knight drew attention to his prospects by reeling .off half a mile in 495. This horse will bo seen to advantage when the track is soft. Ranelagh was in front of Pangolin at the ftlid of seven furlongs in 1.31 3-5. . Moratorium, Aberfeldy. and Gala "Day finished practically in line at the end of a' mile in 1.48. -Great Starwwars r restricted to easy work on the plough, and Red Heckle, who docs not require much galloping, was given trotting exercise in the middle. Solgele traversed seven furlongs in 1.33, stopping badly over the last stages. Bulolo and Buoyant were together after recording 1.18 for six furlongs, and their stable mate To Awliina galloped a similar journey in 1.18 3-5. There was not much between Lucky Light, Speed Light and Latin Quarter at tho end of a solid milo run in 1.41 3-5. Safoty (R. J. Rickerby) jumped four hurdles woll. Sho looks like turning out useful. Taurua showed too much pace for Last Mark over seven furlongs in 1.33. Adelphi and the two-year-old unnamed brother to Count Cavour ran half n. mile in 50s. Tho Viscount and Leader took 50 3-5s for the samo journey. Hunting Cry was a little better than Goshawk over six furlongs in 1.16 3-5. Aucklanders' Performances. Prodice and In the Shade were associated in a milo and a-quarter gallop, taking 2.11 1-5, tho laßt mile in 1.44. Eaglet finished slightly in front of Count Palatine, with Vertigern close up at the end of nine furlongs in 1.57 2-5, the last mile taking 1.43 1-5. Consent was responsible for a smart effort over six furlongs in 1.15 2-ff. > Count Cavour and Amor were sent a mile and n-quarter and kept together until near tho post, where tho former drew away : to beat his stable mate by iv length in 2.13. Ama has made a good recovery and his temporary let-up should not have any serious effect.

Yali 'was seen to advantage in narrowly beating Toxeuma, with Value next, over six furlongs in 1.15 3-5. The Oaks candidate Sapient, with, Waihemo ns a mate over the last half-mile, was timed to run seven furlongs in 1.20. Lovette and Parysia galloped half a mile in 51 l-ss, Thurso and Coupling taking 52s for tho same distance. Similar tasks were executed by Heisler in 51s, Amorist in 50 2-sa, and Tea Party and Courtlike in 49 l-ss.

Sea Raid, who was unlucky at Motukarara, impressed by covering six furlongs in 1.16. Silver Pnper, Aspiring and Tray Bond wero togothor &<> tlie .of an easy furlongs in 1.20.
