MOTHERS' UNION.
Tho quarterly meeting of the council of the Auckland Mothers' Union was held on Monday afternoon at Bishopscourt Library. Tho president, Mrs. Averill, was in the chair, and there was an attendance of between 60 and 70 members of the council. Since the last council meeting a special confirmation service was held on October 24 in the Bishopscourt Chapel for members of the Mothers' Uftion. Her Excellency Lady Alice Fergusson . has written a farewell letter to the Mothers' Union in New Zealand, and before her departure a'copy is to be given to every member of tho union in tho Dominion.
It was stated that tho work of- tho Mothers' Union for tho coming year is to bo specially concentrated on formulating a scheme in regard to tho religious training of the young, this being one of the chief aims of tho union. Tho development of this scheme is at present occupying the earnest thought of tho executive, and it is hoped will receive the wholehearted support of every member. At the close of tho meeting Mrs. Averill entertained all present to afternoon tea. The annual festival is to be held on December 4, the first Wednesday in the month. There will bo a service at 2.30 in tho cathedral church, after which all members are invited to Bishopscourt by His Grace the Archbishop and Mrs. Averill.
