PROGRESS OF RIVERHEAD.
ELECTRIC-POWER SUPPLY
A social arranged by the Waitemata Power Board was held in the Riverhead Public Hall on Monday evening, to commemorate' the turning on of electric-power in the district.
Mr. F. Howlett, of Riverhead, presided, and in welcoming the members of the board stated that the supply of electricity marked a great step of progress in the district.
Mr. J. W. Hayden, chairman of tho Power Board, then performed tho switch-iiig-on ceremony. To commemorate the event an electric kettle was presented by the board to the Riverhead Hall. After supper a dance was held.
