MOTOR SPEEDING.
Sir, —1 move about Auckland a good deal and feel .justified in saying that there is as much speeding of motor vehicles on Remuera Road as anywhere. The pedestrian hfis little objection, perhaps, to a proportion of this fast traffic, but something really should be done to check those thoughtless drivers, both male and fomale, who habitually race past the shopping centre at the post office, where there is more than the usual danger because of the intersection of two roads and a tramway line intersection. Everyone who is familiar with I.he conditions will endorse this opinion, I am sure, and there is general apprehension that, tragedy is dreadfully close every day. Pedestrians, who include children attending schools in the neighbourhood, have become accustomed, through sheer force of circumstances, to the need for continual watch fulness and their alertness alone has saved many accidents. The traffic authorities will be applauded if tliey help to remove some of the present danger.'; and compel motorists to give consideration lo other users of the highway. The offenders are so numerous that I believe an inspector could "bag" several on any day of the week. Sprinter.
