MOTOR-CYCLING MISHAPS,

ELDERLY MAN KNOCKED DOWN.

TWO RIDERS BREAK LEGS. ' Struck by a motor-cycl ft on Saturday morning, Mr. Peter Kerr, aged 67, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital with ex. tensive injuries to the head, including a fracture of the skull. The injured man was until just prior to the accident em. ployed at St. Joseph's Convent, Remuera, and had left for a city boarding house. Last evening his condition was stated !o be satisfactory. Ernest Charles Farr, aged 15, whosa horns is at Port Albert, sustained a compound fracture of the leg yesterday afternoon when the motor-cycle whjch he was riding collided with a motor-car at an intersection near Wellsford. The boy was brought into Auckland by motor-car and was admitted, to the hospital at 8.45 p.m. His condition is not regarded as serious.

A fracture of the leg was sustained by a motor-cyclist, Mr. Thomas Ralph Grayson, aged 25, when'his machine collided with a motor-car in Onehunga early yesterday afternoon. Mr. Grayson, whow home is at 352, Queen Street, Onehunga, was removed to the hospital by the driver of the car. His condition is stated to be not serious. i

A farm hand, Selwyn Workman, agsd 18, who is employed on a property at Pokeno, was admitted to the hospital oq Saturday afternoon with a fracture of tlj® leg. His condition is regarded as not serious.

DAMAGE CAUSED. BY FIRE,

Skidding on loose scoria on the concrete surface Ol the road at a bend, a light car of the "baby" variety overturned on the Great South Road just south of Penrose shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday. Immediately the vehicle came to rest on its side it caught fire, and the driver, M.r< Light, of Grey Lynn, and the one passenger were forced to make a hurried escape. Mr. Light was slightly cut with, glass from the windscreen, while the other occupant was uninjured. ?

The car was well on fire when two motor-buses owned by the Passenger Transport Company arrived on the scene, but with the aid of hand-extinguishen the flames .were soon subdued. The interior of the car and the electrical wiring behind the . dashboard wero severely damaged, and the paintwork wi* scorched, but the total amount of tba damage was not very great.

SYMONDS STREET COLLISION.

CAR JAMMED AGAINST GATE

A collision between a light car and ii touring car occurred at the intersection of Lower Symonds Street and Waterloo Quadrant at 2.15 on Saturday afternoon, the smaller car being overturned' aid thrown against the gateway leading into the Supreme Court grounds. The touring car, which -was driven by Mr. S. E. Bush, was travelling down Symonds Stjeet, while the other vehicle went out of Alten Road and commenced to cross the main road toward Waterloo Quadrant. Both cars then swerved toward the Supreme Court and a collision took place, tha lighter car being overturned and jammed against the gate of the Court grounds. The driver, Mr. Cecil Larkin, who resides at Royal Court, received a number of cuts and bruises about the head, but the two passengers escaped unhurt. The driver of the other car was not injured.
