CANADIAN HARVESTERS.

PLANT FROM AUSTRALIA.

Australian and N.Z. Press Association. TORONTO, Oct. 11. The decision to manufacture combino harvesters in Canada, removing the plant from Australia for the purpose, is held to be of the utmost importance to the Dominion in view of the heavy imports of them from the United States. At present these amount in value to more than £8,000,000. The combine is regarded as an economical necessity for tho large grain farmer in tho West, and, as tho United States product has to face a 10 per cent, tariff, I lie now company should, if is said, litid a ready sale for its product. Moreover, in addition to sales in Canada, the 110\y firm will handlo an export, business to the United States which imposes no tariff and to South America, where the market is large. It is thought that tho removal of export factories from Australia to Canada will aid in meeting competition in these markets, both of which also are important.
