MANUKAU AMATEUR CLUB
The Manukau Amateur Cycling Club conducted a junior and a senior event over olio la)) of the Mangere circuit, 5i miles, on Saturday, when ideal conditions prevailed. Nine juniors competed in their event. W. Webb. 2m 20s, was the limit rider, while tho scratcli mark was filled by D. Milne, who put up a splendid ride to win in the failtime of 15m 345. The junior results were as follows:—D. Miluc, scr, 1; H. V. Gordon, 10s, 2: S'. Pinfold. 20s,_ 3. Fastest time was recorded by Milno in 15m 345. Thirty-three seuiors competed in their event, which resulted in a victory for one of tho 11 riders who started off tho 3 m 50s mark. Tho finish was fought out between a bunch of 12 riders. Mackrell put in an early effort to gain a break which permitted him to win by a length, with the rest, close up. The successful seniors were:—A. W. Mackrell. lm 50s. 1; L. H. Dwight, 1m 60s, 2; L. Hall, Jm 50s, 3; K. Spragg, lm 50s, 4. J. 11. Wade, scr. easily accounted for the other three scratch riders in their sprint. He led Dwight over the lino by a good three lengths, with Mackie a length away from Dwiirht, and Roberts well back. Wado put up the record lap of 13m 54 2-ss, and finished 40s behind (lie winner. The first prize for the senior race was donated by Air. R. J. Mackrell. Tho special race between tho three best junior members for the gold medal donated •>v Mr C A. Paul was run off under the time trial system. Each rider was despatched, after drawing for his starting order, at ail interval of one minute. THE AUCKLAND CLUB. Tho Auckland Cycle Club decided a 19.4 miles race over three circuits of the Mangere course on Saturday. Seven riders featured in the fast sprint down the hill the last time. Pinfold led out early, with Yule on his wheel and tho rest in close attendance, and this order was maintained to the line, which Pinfold crossed with a length to spare from the youngest professional rider competing, C. T. Yule. In the sprint for fastest, time honours between Mathieson, Francis and TJnll, the former had little difficulty in winning by two lengths. Tho placed riders were:—L. G. Pinfold, 3m, 1; C. T. Yule, 3m 20s, 2: F. Lowndes, 3 m 20s, 3: R. Gardiner. 4m. 4. K. J. Mathieson. riding off lm 20s. virtual scratch, recorded fastest time in 50m 525.
