ANGLICAN SYNOD.
WEEK-END FUNCTIONS. 1 Special functions were attended during the weok-end by members of the Church! of England Diocesan Synod who ara assembled in Auckland. The St, John's College Association held its annual festival at Tamaki on Saturday morning, members being entertained ~afc luncheon by ths warden, Canon A. W. Payne. On Satur< day afternoon Archbishop Averill and Mrs* Avorill gave a garden parly at Bishops* court, Parnell, there being a largo attend* ance. i
Yesterday was observed as Synod Suin day. Holy Communion was celebrated iaj St. Mary's Cathedral afc eight o'clock, Archbishop Averill being the celehranfc.i Matins were held at eleven o'clock, tba Rev. W. N. Panapa, Maori missioner, of Kaikolie, being the preacher. The preached afc evensong was the Rev. R> B. Davison, of St. George's Church, Thames. will resume its business sessions to-day*
