RIFLING WOMEN'S HANDBAGS
" I'LL BE, BACK LATER."
Whiio a meeting, convened under the auspices, of tho . Women's Christian' Temperance Union, was being held in a church hall in Sydney recently, a thief entered tho lobby of the hall and,proceeded to riflo a numbor of wortien's-handbags. A woman heard him and went out into tho lobby under the impression that tho man was trying to find, his way to tho refreshment stall.
Tho thief nodded casually, romarked "I'll be back later," and walked out of tho building. The police were unable to find out the total value of the property stolen, but one woman complained that £5 in notes had been taken from her bag. Several others reported that they had lost srnallor sums.
