SUICIDE BY HANGING.
SERVICE IN TWO, WARS.
A verdict of suicide by hanging was returned by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., coroner, at tie inquest info the death of Mr. Albt.n'fc Edward Powell, who was found hanging from the rafters of an outhouse at his home in Arawa Street, Khyber Pass, early yesterday morning. Deceased, who was aged 52, was a mechanic in the employ of the Post and Telegraph Department. He served in the South African War and the Great War. When his body was discovered by his wife he had apparently been dead for some hours. Richard James Powell, son of deceased, said that as far as ho knew his father had no financial worries, and od the previous night seemed to be in goci spirits. Ho suffered from insomnia, and frequently rose early to work in the garden. Summoned by his mother, witness found his father's body hanging in the wash-house, and immediately cut it down and summoned a doctor. Deceased had never expressed any intention of committing suicide.
