FINAL FOR ROOPE ROOSTER, MARIST DEFEATS PONSONBY. PLAYER ORDERED OFF FIELD. A splendid exhibition of League football wa.a witnessed at Carlaw Park 03 Saturday when Marist was successful in beating Ponsonby by 17 points to 9 in the final of the Roope Rooster competition. Both sides displayed their best form, with Marist slightly superior all round. The Mariat backs rose to the occasion in (rood style, and the rear division wus prominent in scaring most of the 17 points. Ponsanby scored three unconverted tries. Marist s success was due to the splendid support given by both backs and forwards to the player is possession. The vanguard handled better than usual, and checked Ponsonby's good work ronnd the scrum. Toward the end of the game Duane, Marist, was ordered off after a forward tussle.
