FAREWELL GATHERING.
A large gathering was held at Papunga, ffe Akau, recently, when the residents of the district visited the home of Mr. and Hrs, T. Beunett to bid them and their son, Sir. Alan Bennett, farewell Keen regret at their - departure from Te Akau, where thoy had been residept for nearly 20 yfcars, was expressed and they were also the recipients of many good wishes for'their future welfare. A most enjoyable social afternoon was spent. Songs by Mrs. A. Bennett and Mr. Alan Bennett and musical items by Miss Henry were greatly enjoyed. Toasts were given with nmsical honours and Mr. T. Morton spoko in eulogistic terns of the neighbpurimess of Mr. and Mrs. Bennett and their family and their readiness to assist all good Mprtoa^resentefl • Mrs. Bennett with a handsome satin eiderdown and the ladies of To Akau a *so gave the latter a Morocco leather handbag, for which she briefly thanked them.
