THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. QUIETER TONE PREVAILS. A quieter ton© prevailed on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, when tho volumo of business was below tho average. Holders of gilt-edge securities quoted moro freely, and tho demand was fully maintained at current offers. War Loans, 1933, 5£ per cent., were unchanged with a salo, at £lOl 15s, and Inscribed Stocks, 1933, 51 per cent., sold at £99 15s, equal to tho last transaction in this stock. New Zealand Broweries, debentures, were dono Id firmer at 30s lOd. Thero was an easier trend in tho banking group. Nationals of Now Zealand had salo at tho current price, £6 17s- Now Zcalands declined 5d with a salo at 62s 10d, and Now South Wales changed hands 7s 6d lower at £sl 15s. Unions had salo 6d cheaper at £ls 0s 6d, and fnoro wore quoted at £ls Is, but buyers did not offer at tho last call. In insuranco New Zcalands woro the only shares sought, buyers offering 47s 6d. in loan and agency a salo of WrightStephensons was recorded at tho early call at 265, 6d below tho level which these shares havo maintained in recent weeks. Thero was no further bidding at the subsequent calls. Coals continued fairly active. In gas Aucklands wcro in demand at lato rates. In mining Waihis mado a current-price salo at 13s 4d, at which figuro there was demand for more, sellors advancing 2d to 13s 6d. Mount Lyolls sold Id firmer at 45s Id. The Exchange will bo closed on Monday, Dominion Day.
