Qvarseas trade returns for Angusit issued by the Customs Department today show an increase in tihe va?ne of exports amounting to £575.659, compared with Augnst last year.: This offsets tic decrease of £579.317 in lie total for the preceding seven :noni3is. The .imports daring last month were £56,777 less than in the corresponding month . last ■ year, when the figure was higher thasu it had been for some years. In 1925 the month's total- was £2.480,000, and in 1321 it was £2,525,000- The record for the month i»' probably £3.993,(XX) in 1920. ' " • ; :
The aggregate return for eight months of the year to Aagust 31 shows that the exports were practically the same as for the corresponding period of last year, the difference being only £4153. On the other hand imports show an increase for the period if £2.373,342. Eis said that over £LOOO.OCO of the increase is accounted for by motor. vehicles. There has- also been an increase in fertiliser imports. Althongh stall -ray substantial, the excess of exports for theeighj months is less by £2,382,500. than for., lis corresjKaufipg period of 1923, as will be seen from ihe. following statement:—
