FIRE IN THE CITY.
QUEEN STREET PREMISES.
SEVERE DAMAGE TO ONE ROOM
Volumes of smoke pouring from the upper storey of the building of Samuel Yaile and Sons, Limited, at 85, Queen Street, attracted a crowd shortly after eight o'clock last evening. The City Fire Brigade, which was summoned when a passer-by broke a street alarm box near the corner of Fort Street, experienced no difficulty in extinguishing the flames before they had spread beyond "the room in which they originated, an office occupied by Messrs. Martin and Philson, tennis specialists. Severe damage was caused in the one room, but the remainder of the building was not damaged. Practically all the stock in the room, which comprised tennis racquets and repairing and restringing apparatus, was destroyed.
